Why Do We Love Shah Rukh Khan?

To start with, I must admit I was eyeing this space for quite a long time but was indecisive on the topic to delve with. Then I thought what better topic to write on than Mr. Shah Rukh Khan. Some of you might feel this girl has gone crazy, the answer is a “Yes” for the people who haven’t experienced his charisma and the answer is an even more powerful “Yes” for the people who have experienced the craziness for him.


So why do “WE” love Shah Rukh Khan? For his acting, stardom, fame, brand value, popularity all over the world and success? Yes we do admire him for all these but fans (err followers) like us love him more for the following reasons...


  1. A self-made man- Whatever SRK is, and whatever he is going to be, is all because he believed in himself, his parents and God. SRK had no godfather. He was just a common guy, with average looks and no filmy background and now he is the KING of Bollywood. This is what we call determination and hard work can take you to unattainable heights.
  2. Humility personified- I can risk my life and say, SRK is the most humble man in Bollywood. His way of living, way of bringing up his children, being with people, treating his fans- all show how much down-to-earth he is.
  3. Perfect combo of wittiness and intelligence- He can make a dire serious thing sound funny and vice versa, keeping the essence intact. His comments might sound rude and insulting but for people who have followed him would know they are heights of wittiness. People don’t understand his witty replies and take them as insults. My condolences are there for those people who lack the basic trait called “sense of humor”. He is super intelligent. There isn’t anything under the Sun on which he can’t give a paragraph-long speech (for more info watch Oye it’s Friday- SRK episode). And this is only because he reads a lot. He has his own library where he spends most of the time when he is at home.
  4. A loving son and brother- His parents are blessed to have a son like him. He remembers them in every occasion, which shows how much he misses them. He has been with his sister and has taken care of her since the time their parents died. Shehnaz you are lucky!
  5. A family man- The perfect example of a “Family Man” is SRK. He is the only actor in Bollywood who has been a one-woman man since the time he knew what love is. He loved Gauri since class 9 and still they are together- roughly 30 years of togetherness and still going strong. Hope they remain like this forever. J
  6. Super dad- Aryan and Suhanna couldn’t have been luckier hadn’t they got SRK as their father. He is a super dad who somehow spares time from his busy schedule to spend time with his “monkeys” (as he lovingly calls them). I just wish they make him proud when they grow up.
  7. An “always available” friend- Be it KJo, Aditya Chopra, Kajol, Farah Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Manish Malhotra, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Kapoor, Mustaq Sheikh and everyone in Bollywood, all of them would just vouch for his friendship. He has done and keeps on doing a hell lot of things for his friends. And they simply adore him. Kajol once said, “For me SRK is the truest of friend I have ever got in my life.” I won’t bring KJo here because he can write epics on SRK. Even for that matter, the older generation, like Big B, Yash Chopra, Hema Mailini, Dharmendra, Mithun etc, all of them are so fond of SRK because of his politeness and humility.
  8. An Ideal and Idol for a million of people- To put it in a straight way, Shah Rukh Khan IS the MOST popular and recognised face in the world. He rules the Asian sub-continent, the Gulf countries, the Indian diaspora in Europe and America. Nobody can match his stardom. Period.
  9. An Alchemist- Whatever he touches reaps money and whatever reaps money, touches SRK. He is the biggest brand in India in terms of recognition, face value, returns etc. He endorses and brings fortune to the companies which are associated with him.
  10. My Angel- In Kal Ho Naa Ho, there was a dialog, “Humara angel kab aayega?” he came, he saw and he conquered. He has been with me whenever I needed him. Whenever I feel down, I watch his movies, I listen to his song and bang on I become perfect. That’s why I had said- When nothing works, an SRK movie does the trick. Because of SRK, I got into SRK fan club and there I got some of the great friends I could have. All thanks to him.

As an ending note, I would say, these are just 10 basic reasons for why “WE” love SRK but then you can only know what SRK is when you start loving him. We have done that and so we are SRK followers for life. J

The Nurturing Nature

Down the campus it’s greenery all around, The birds accompany me with their chirping sound. Be it in the glowing morning or at the falling dusk, Overlooking the symphony is a defying task. Never did I see such harmony in Nature’s creation, It simply bewilders my weirdest imagination. The rippling water, the expanding tree, the small little seedy, The swaying grasses, the twittering birds all break into an eternal rhapsody, The azul sky lined by the white fluffy cloud, It simply looks serene away from the maddening crowd. The Ride of Life

Life has taken a full circle. Life has brought me back to square one. Although a circle and a square have different shapes, the journey has been one and the same. A diameter here and a diagonal there- I willingly avoided these two shortcuts because I wanted to experience life in complete routes.
